2021-2021 Luna Composition Lab Fellows Announced
The Kaufman Music Center announce this season's Luna Composition Lab Fellows, six gifted female-identifying or nonbinary composers in their teens
The fellows are Vera Gjaja (15), Alisha Heng (17), Marina Zurita McKinnon (16), Jordan Millar (14), Zola Saadi-Klein (17) and Azalea Twining (14).
During the 2020-21 season, the six aspiring teen composers will be mentored by established composers: Valerie Coleman, Kristin Kuster, Tamar Muskal, Gity Razaz, Ellen Reid and Alex Temple.
This award-winning mentorship program, founded in 2016 by prominent composers Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reid, serves young artists as a platform for a successful and well-balanced career in the arts.
Its alumni have been commissioned to compose for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Opera Omaha, and members of the Louisville Symphony; the works of the Luna Lab fellows have been recorded by International Contemporary Ensemble.
