London Symphony Orchestra Releases Bruckner's Seventh Symphony Conducted By Sir Simon Rattle

The recording completes a set of three albums which features Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs’ editions of Bruckner’s Fourth, Sixth, and Seventh Symphonies

The London Symphony Orchestra has released their newest album, "Bruckner: Symphony No. 7," conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. This album follows two recent Bruckner albums by Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra — "Symphony No. 6," released in 2019, and "Symphony No. 4," released in 2022.

This edition of the symphony by Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs was first performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle in September 2022, and the recording completes a set of three albums that features Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs’ editions of Bruckner’s Fourth, Sixth, and Seventh Symphonies.

The edition makes use of Bruckner’s discarded fragments and lesser-known material through his many revisions which gives us a glimpse into the composer’s untold musical thoughts through the set of albums.

Conducting Bruckner, says Rattle, is a lifelong quest for some extraordinary vista, some wonderful moment which leads you out of this world.”

He is a Principal Artist of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Founding Patron of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.

The London Symphony Orchestra was established in 1904 as one of the first orchestras shaped by its musicians.
