Maxim Vengerov to Perform as Part of Carnegie Hall's Great Artists I Series

The violinist recently launched an exclusive teaching advice series on The Violin Channel, entitled "Vengerov's Views"

To help celebrate the launch of The Violin Channel's new site, and the re-launch of Maxim Vengerov's new website, the violinist, teacher, and conductor, will be guest presenting a series of exclusive teaching advice classes for our readers, teachers, and students everywhere.

Accompanied by helpful teaching videos explaining and demonstrating key concepts, "Vengerov's Views" will cover a wide range of topics including sound, left and right hand technique, bowing, breathing, harmony and structure, and interpretation.

Check out the first of eight teaching classes, here, as Vengerov shares with us the richness of possibilities that storytelling offers to every performer.

As is the case with Vengerov, a great teacher is often still an active performer. New York audiences can hear him live at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 8 pm ET. You can get tickets, here

He will perform with pianist and collaborator Polina Osetinskaya in a program that features arrangements of several works not originally composed for violin and piano.

The program includes:

J. S. BACH — Violin Sonata No. 1 in B Minor, BWV 1014

BEETHOVEN — Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47, "Kreutzer"

SHOSTAKOVICH — Ten Preludes from Op. 34 (arr. Tsyganov)

TCHAIKOVSKY — Souvenir d’un lieu cher

TCHAIKOVSKY — Valse-scherzo in C Major, Op. 34

The performance is part of Carnegie Hall's Great Artists I series. "This series features musicians whose incredible artistry matches their immense renown, including beloved favorites making long-awaited returns to Carnegie Hall," reads Carnegie's website.

Additional artists to perform in this series include violinist Joshua Bell with pianist Daniil Trifonov, plus pianists Beatrice Rana and Hélène Grimaud.
