Seattle Symphony Offers Free Tickets to First Responders

Two free tickets are available to paramedics, healthcare workers, EMTs, firefighters, and law enforcement, for a concert on November 11, 2021

To be led by Seattle Symphony’s music director Thomas Dausgaard, this concert will mark the conductor’s first performance back with the orchestra in over a year and a half.

Previously hindered by COVID-19-related travel restrictions and visa delays, Dausgaard wanted his return concert to express gratitude to those who continue to protect the community during the pandemic.

Titled “Dausgaard Conducts Brahms,” the concert will open with Beethoven’s "Egmont Overture," followed by Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring pianist Alessio Bax. The performance will conclude with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1.

The concert will be held in Benaroya Hall on November 11, 2021, at 7:30 PM. Eligible audience members may claim up to two complimentary tickets on that night by presenting their credentials in person at the Ticket Office starting from 5:30 PM.

Health and safety measures will remain in place for all concertgoers, who will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result. Face masks will be required at all times while in the concert venue.

“After so many months of being apart from my beloved colleagues at the Seattle Symphony, it is a joy to be returning to them and music-making together again,” Dausgaard said in the press release.

“I want not only to celebrate our reunion, but also to offer a deep expression of gratitude to the extraordinary first responders who have seen us through a difficult time,” he continued. “Without their bravery, selflessness and deep humanity, we would be lost in the depths of this pandemic.”

“Our first responders and healthcare workers continue to go above and beyond the expected in the service of providing care for the community,” added Krishna Thiagarajan, Seattle Symphony’s president and CEO. “We offer this concert to them in honor of their commitment and professionalism and to say, ‘thank you.’”
