"Beethoven In His Time" Competition Announces Winner
Trio Egmont has won first prize at the German historical performance practice chamber music competition
The chamber music competition, "Beethoven In His Time," was presented by Siegburg Music Workshop, in honor of Beethoven's 250th birthday last year.
Trio Egmont comprises violinist Luiza Labouriau, cellist Martin Knörzer, and pianist Gilad Katznelson.
The ensemble will receive the first prize of 15,000 euros and a CD recording NAXOS.
The competition jury consisted of David Breitman, Jacqueline Ross, Marco Testori, Olga Pashchenko, Viola de Hoog, Petra Müllejans, and Richard Lorber.
The Alterna Trio won second prize, which also included 15,000 Euros.
"We are so extremely honoured and happy to have won the First Prize and the special Ferdinand Ries Prize at the first chamber music competition for historical instruments “Beethoven in his Time” in Siegburg," said the trio on their website.
