The Davidson Institute for Talent Development has announced 17-year-old American violinist Charlotte Marckx as a recipient of a 2019 Davidson Fellowship
The Davidson Institute for Talent Development, an nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of extraordinary young American talent, has this week announced 17-year-old American violinist Charlotte Marckx as a recipient of a US $50,000 2019 Davidson Fellowship.
Awarded annually to pre-college students 18-years and younger in the fields of sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, literature, music and philosophy, Charlotte was awarded 1 of 19 2019 Fellowships in recognition of her 'Pursuit of Mastery' project - involving a conscious shift in mindset that centers around the idea of embracing the process of improvement, as a part of a lifelong quest for perfection, rather than fixating on specific external results.
A student of Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School, and previous student of Jan Coleman, Simon James and Hiro David in Seattle, Charlotte was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Stulberg International String Competition.
