Happy Birthday, Violinist Sarah Chang!

A recognized child protégé of Dorothy DeLay and The Juilliard School, Chang made her professional debut with the New York Philharmonic aged just 8

 

Since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at age 8, Sarah Chang continued to impress audiences internationally with her technical virtuosity and refined emotional depth, alongside esteemed orchestras and conductors. Her impressive career spans more than two decades.

An avid chamber musician, she has collaborated with some of the best artists of our time, including Pinchas Zukerman, Yefim Bronfman, Yo-Yo Ma, Isaac Stern, and members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

The BBC Music Magazine stated when referring to her recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, that "She has never made a finer recording."

Chang was given the honor of running with the Olympic Torch in New York for the June 2004 Olympic Games, and was the youngest recipient of the Hollywood Bowl's Hall of Fame award when she was 24 years old.

A recipient of numerous awards and prizes, Sarah received an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1992, Gramophone's "Young Artist of the Year" in 1993, and she was recognized as an official Artistic Ambassador by the United States Department of State in 2011.
