Violist Amihai Grosz Signs with IMG Artists

Grosz will receive general management from Derek Chandruang

Amihai Grosz, the founding violist of the Jerusalem Quartet and the current First Principal Viola of the Berliner Philharmoniker, has signed with IMG Artists for general management. He will be represented at IMG by the company's Senior Vice President, Derek Chandruang.

A native of Jerusalem, Grosz studied with David Chen at the city's Academy of Music, under Tabea Zimmermann at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, and with Haim Taub at the Keshet Eilon Music Center in Tel Aviv.

At sixteen, he became a founding member of the Jerusalem Quartet. During Grosz's tenure, the ensemble made recordings for the Harmonia Mundi label, and won the ECHO Klassik Chamber Music Award for their recording of Schubert's String Quartet no. 14 "Death and the Maiden."

In 2010, Grosz left the group when he was appointed First Principal Viola of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony, Barcelona Symphony, National Symphony of Ireland, and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

Grosz is signed exclusively to the Alpha Classics label, and released his debut solo recording — featuring the Bartók Viola Concert with the Orchestre National de Lille and conductor Alexander Bloch — in the fall of 2023.

"I’m so thrilled to share that I am now represented by IMG Artists, with the fantastic Derek Chandruang as my manager!" Grosz said. "Derek and I met many years ago and always wanted to find a way to work together. I’m grateful for his guidance and the opportunity join forces, and I look forward to our amazing journey ahead."

"Amihai is a formidable musician who is never short on stories!" said Chandruang. "I’ve long admired his signature robust sound and incredible artistry, which deserves to be heard more widely. I look forward to forging an even more exciting career with him in the years to come!"
