Young Concert Artists Announce Change Of the Guard After 58 Years

The Young Concert Artists, in New York, has announced the appointment of Daniel Kellogg as its new President

The Young Concert Artists, in New York City, has today announced the appointment of composer Daniel Kellogg as its new President - effective from the 1st of July this year.

The 43-year-old will replace Founder and current Director Susan Wadsworth - who has headed up the organization since its formation in 1961.

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Yale School of Music, Daniel previously served as Composer-in-Residence with the Young Concert Artists - and was represented on their management roster for ten years.

“I am beyond pleased that my successor is a former YCA artist, and therefore fully understands the role that YCA plays in young musicians’ lives …” Ms Wadsworth has today said.

“Daniel Kellogg’s enthusiasm and energy will enable the organization to continue to thrive and meet the challenges of the 21st Century - while maintaining the high musical standards for which the organization is known,” she has said.

Selected annually via a series of international auditions, each year's Young Concert Artists 1st prize winners are granting access to a minimum of 3 years management services, career engagements, publicity and career guidance – plus coveted recital debuts in New York City and at the Washington D.C. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Young Concert Artists International Auditions differ from a competition, as there are no rankings, and any number of winners can be selected – with each candidate competing against a standard of excellence, not each other.

Previous recipients include: Pinchas Zukerman, Ida Kavafian, Chee-Yun, Emanuel Ax, Murray Perahia and Anne Akiko Meyers – and VC Artists Paul Huang, Bella Hristova, Benjamin Beilman, Ray Chen, Stephen Warts, Edgar Moreau, Xavier Foley, SooBeen Lee and Zlatomir Fung.

Ms Wadworth will continue on as a creative consultant through to 2020-2021, YCA has indicated, to help with the planning for the organization's 60th anniversary.
